Biography

Born in Shanghai, Yijia Wang (24) began her piano studies at the age of six and entered the Shanghai Conservatory under Professor Jia Xie. In 2011, she moved to New York and pursued her musical study at the Juilliard School Pre-College Division under Professor Victoria Mushkatkol. Ms. Wang earned her Bachelor of Music at Curtis Institute of Music under Professor Meng-Chieh Liu and Master of Music at The Juilliard School in the studios of Yoheved Kaplinsky and Julian Martin.

Wang has already established herself as an international soloist with deeply expressive interpretations of new and old works and innate ability to communicate with audiences. Solo performances have included appearances with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic, Beijing Philharmonic, Orchestra Atelier Ostinato, New Millennium Orchestra and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed throughout the world in countries like Japan, Korea, Germany, France, America, China, and in world-renowned concert halls including the Mann Center, Chicago Symphony hall, Alice Tully Hall, Kaufman Music Center, Carnegie Hall, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Paris Salle Gaveau, Shenzhen Symphony Hall and Shanghai Symphony Hall. Wang has worked with conductors including Stéphane Denève, Ludovic Morlot, Francesco Milioto, Jian Li, Zhong Xu, Yongji Wang and Xincao Li. 

As a recipient of numerous prizes in national and international competitions, Wang won first prize of Greenfield Competition of Philadelphia Orchestra, first prize of MTNA national competition, second prize and the prize for the Youngest of the Fifth International Frederick Chopin Competition For Young Pianists, fourth prize of the 2008 Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition, second prize of 2015 EDR Foundation International Young Artist Piano Concerto Competition. As an avid chamber musician, her music festival appearance includes Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, Hotchkiss Summer Portals, Shanghai International Piano Master Class Series.
